Paula Deen’s 5-Minute Fudge
Ingredients:
– 1 2/3 cups (about 10 oz or 285 g) semisweet chocolate chips
– 1 2/3 cups (about 10 oz or 285 g) butterscotch chips
– 1 can (14 oz or 397 g) sweetened condensed milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 cup (120 g) chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, or your favorite nuts)
– Butter or non-stick spray (for greasing the pan)
Instructions:
1. **Prepare the Pan:**
– Lightly grease an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking dish with butter or non-stick spray, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. **Melt the Chips:**
– In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and sweetened condensed milk.
– Microwave the mixture on high for 1 minute. Stir well.
– If the chips are not fully melted, continue microwaving in 15-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is smooth.
3. **Add Vanilla and Nuts:**
– Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
– Fold in the chopped nuts.
4. **Pour into the Pan:**
– Quickly pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish.
– Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
5. **Set the Fudge:**
– Let the fudge cool at room temperature until firm, or for faster results, refrigerate it for about 1-2 hours.
6. **Slice and Serve:**
– Once the fudge is set, cut it into small squares.
– Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
Tips:
– **Variations:** You can customize this fudge by adding other mix-ins like dried fruit, marshmallows, or different types of chips (e.g., white chocolate or peanut butter).
– **Gift Idea:** This fudge makes a great homemade gift. Wrap the squares in parchment paper or place them in a decorative tin.
